Located at the top of a mountain, this huge resort overlooks a small town about an hours drive from Hiroshima. Abandoned theme parks are always fun to check out (more so than visiting active theme parks). Built in 1975 and with a North American western colonial theme, its doors were closed forever in 2007 (due to lack of public interest). It now sits abandoned, derelict and rotting away on the edge of a small rural town. I reached the park in the early afternoon after a long drive (I was actually on my way to an abandoned hotel in the mountains and sort of stumbled across this place)

The Kappa Onsen Hotel in Nikko (a beautiful Japanese mountain area) stands on the edge of a cliff overlooking a gushing river. I'm unsure how long this place has been abandoned...but judging by the old telephones and furnishings, I'm assuming early 90's. The building is kind of eerie and looks dead when viewed from the foot bridge which links one side of Nikko to the other. The hotel was difficult to find from the front and I had to walk back and forth down a winding road
